Another update failure

I recently received my primer2, and wanted to make sure everything was up-to-date.

I downloaded the latest CD image, and installed.

I downloaded the latest update and followed the instructions at:
http://stm32circle.com/resources/upgrade.php

All things apparently went well with the batch file:
!!! WARNING: This will program the original code into the STM32-Primer2. !!!
!!!      All applications currently loaded will be erased.               !!!

Press Ctrl-C to abort.
Press any key to continue . . .

Unfortunately now the Primer2 is completely unresponsive.  I can run the update many times and it succeeds, but the unit will not respond to any button-pushing.

I have done hardware reset, and the charge LEDs seem to be functioning.

Any ideas?

Re: Another update failure

Bit of extra info:

The backlight on the LCD is on permanently.  Even after hardware reset.

Re: Another update failure

1. When you say 'hardware reset' did you remove the battery jumper ?
  2. Could you measure the 2.85V voltage ?  (you will find it on the first pin of the extension connector, on the upper row, close to the battery jumper.

It's quite strange because the ability of programming means that the CPU is running properly... It looks like the execution loops within an initialization. You could try to start CircleOS in debug mode.

Re: Another update failure

Went ahead and did a completely clean install of the Ride CD again, and reinstalled the factory image with the one from the newer CD image, and the Circle came back.

I went ahead and did the upgrade to 3.7 again, and it worked.

So there appears to be some issue with going from the original version directly to 3.7.

Unfortunately I never rcvd the original CD, and I don't know what version of CircleOS was on before I attempted the upgrade.  So there is no way to repeat it.

Now at least I can spend time figuring out the Ride environment, instead of staring at a lit, blank screen.

Re: Another update failure

I don't understand what happened but you should work with a recent version of both RIDE7 and RKitARM from the Raisonance web site.
