Fresh install of Ride, errors everywhere....

Well I'm not having much luck with this evaluation kit so far.

I have installed Ride from the STM32 Primer (the round one), with no warnings.
When I run it from the start menu (of Vista Business) I get:

"Script Error (Line 1) Automation server can't create object".

If I click OK for the pop-up to clear, and load the 'toggle' example project I then get the following error:

""Script Error (line 12) 'objFSO' is null or not an object". I get 54 of these messages. The project wil then not compile, with similar messages.

I'm an experienced electronic engineer, but these messages are a bit obtuse!

Any clues?

I feel I shouldn't have these problems with a piece of kit designed to entice me to use the ST32 processor. As it is, I'm about to send it back to RS as a pile of junk, and use something else.... tell me it's worth persevering with!

Mike

I've downloaded the latest version of ride and the kit. Still no joy.

I've added a snapshot of the screen I get when I try to build.

This software seems very buggy. It can't be just me, surely??

Dear Mike,

Ride7 is using the scripting functionalities of Windows OS.

Please make sure that you have the scripting engine installed on your PC, that means that you can execute jscript files (.js).

And also that you have msscript.ocx properly installed and registered (regsvr32.exe msscript.ocx).

Best regards,
Behnaz

Re: Fresh install of Ride, errors everywhere....

Thanks Behnaz,

I can execute both Java and JavaScript files, and I find msscript at "C:\Windows\system32\msscript.ocx". It's in the registry for various things, so I presume it's installed and registered.

I would have hoped that the installation of the IDE would have checked for these things too.

Anyone else have any ideas?
Do I need to set up specific paths?
Any boxes I've not ticked?
Why does it generate a GIF of html gobbledegook when I try to build?

Thanks,
Mike

OK, I give in. I don't have time for this - this piece of junk is going back.

Would anyone from ST care to comment on their sub-standard products?

I'd recommend potential customers reading this to stay away from these awful tools and buy a 'proper' M3 processor dev kit. This one is frustrating beyond belief.

Your windows is broken! All you need to do is to reinstall the scriptiong system (WSH).
Primer2 tools require already installed components of OS to be runing properly.

I had a similiar problem when i first installed RIDE. After i uninstalled antivirus system it worked.

P.S.: Tools are not coming from ST. Device and tools were developed by Raisonance.

Re: Fresh install of Ride, errors everywhere....

I re-installed WSH (although I shouldn't have to).
Still no good.

I am never uninstalling my antivirus system - any software that requires that level of control of my computer is either an operating system or has been written badly. There is simply no excuse for the amaturish IDE that this product ships with.

Point taken regarding Raisonance - I'm encouraging people to avoid Raisonance products. Unfortunately it reflects badly on ST too.

Re: Fresh install of Ride, errors everywhere....

Hi HaloMike,

As I wrote you previously it seems that your msscipt.ocx file has been unregistered during a Windows update and you need to register it again. You can do this with executing the following command:

regsvr32.exe msscript.ocx
