Programming languages other than C

Hello,
I was just wondering if on the STM32 I could use other programming languages. Maybe something like Java? What languages did you encounter on embedded systems that have stronger checking for array boundaries, pointers, etc?

You will find C++ support (not supported by RIDE) from CodeSourcery, but I don't know whether anybody has worked on GCJ for Cortex-M3.

Thanks for your response.

Are there some well known combinations of ARM processor and Java Virtual Machines software? My goal is for small programs, no GUI involved.
Do you think I should look more for J2ME Java 2 Micro Edition or GCJ approaches? It would have to be non GPL.

hraj_maa, Maybe you would have more success if you start a brand new thread. Your post has nothing to do with "Programming languages other than C".
