Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Hi,
I have the same problem as samarkh . Exactly the same thing
Unable to open USB communication with RLink. Please check dongle is connected and that the driver is loaded correctly.
I have checked
Yes, I'm the administrator. Yes, the BUSY LED, close to the debug port, does turn ON and then OFF after a few seconds. Yes, the RLink USB appears under the "Jungo" section.
I also install the newest version RIDE7 kit 7.16 and the ARM kit 1.16.
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Hi,
It's not the same problem as Samarkh. Not even the same error message.
He had problems installing the driver. But once that was done everything went fine for him.
In your case the driver is installed correctly and manages to communicate with RLink, (this we know because the LED turns OFF) but for some reason the software doesn't manage to communicate with the RLink, or maybe with the driver. It's the first time I hear about such a thing. I will need more information for understanding the problem...
Which version of Windows (and service packs) are you using?
Can you please go in directory "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS", right-click on "windrvr6.sys", select "properties", and tell me the version of the file?
Can you please go in the registry, and look in this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Enum/USB/VID_138E&PID_9000 and tell me which sub-keys you have there?
Is the RLink plugged directly in one of the host PC's USB ports, or is it connected through a hub, screen or anything else? Are there a lot of other USB devices, or unusual ones, connected to the PC?
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Mr VincentC
I have same problem as samarkh, I also can not install the driver, the message displayed is same as samarkh's. when I use Ride 7 to download program, above message will be displayed.
My computer: HP laptop I have a USB mouse, when I directly plug primer 2 into my computer. My OS: winXP(chinese version) WinDriver Device Driver 9.21 the sub-key under VID_138E&PID_9000 is dngWNYe00003558.
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Hi,
jjl3, it seems that you have a version of Jungo installed (9.21) that is newer than the one that we install with RLink (7.0). Probably from another device's installer. It should be fine though, as the driver is supposed to be backward-compatible.
Now please try to install the RLink inf file by running this command as explained in the RLink doc: wdreg -inf RLinkDrv_WDP.inf install
And send me the screenshot if you get an error message.
If you get no error message, try to plug the RLink and tell Windows to use "RLinkDrv_WDP.inf" for it.
And send me the screenshot if you get an error message.
And please stop posting in all the threads. It will not make us answer faster, and it confuses all the other threads, because having the same error message doesn't mean that you have the same problem. One problem, one thread, please.
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Hi jjl3,
Thanks for the information.
The installation of the driver seems to be OK.
Please confirm that after these manipulations you still have the BUSY LED of the RLink turning ON and then OFF, and the RLink appearing in the device manager in the Jungo section. Please also confirm that you are unable to connect to RLink using the "RLinkCapab.exe" utility.
If you confirm all that, I fear there might be a problem of compatibility with the newer version 9.21 of WinDriver. Jungo claims it's backward-compatible, but I don't see any other explanation for what you experience. Can you please send me your windrvr6.sys and windrvr6.inf files? (the ones labeled as version 9.21) email them to 'support@raisonance.com'. (zip the files with a password, as our email server might reject attached .sys files, and it looks inside zips if there is no password )
Do you have another PC that does not have WinDriver installed? It would be interesting to check that, just to rule out any hardware problem in the RLink.
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
I am having the exact same problem as samarkh. I installed the CD before plugging in my Primer2. In the device manager it shows up as "RLinkWinUSBClass"->"Raisonance RLINKUSB Dongle." which has a yellow caution mark over it. After trying to install the driver I get the following error.
"An error occurred during the installation of this device" "A service installation section in this INF is invalid"
Has anybody made progress on this issue? BTW the link VincentC posted (to the FAQ) is broken...
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Hi Flyingfork, Glad my hard work was of some help to someone. (Personally I'd like to see it part of the FAQ, along with the target 0.00v message, as these are very much Frequently Asked topics!)
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Hi! Same problem at me too. (It's not accepting the inf File at the instal of the Driver) Before asking: yes, I know what is Windows, and I'm admin on my computer, etc.
My question is: Is there a simple way to solve the problem, or I have to spend my weekend with it too (as samarkh did). Ah yes, it's a winXP SP2. Bye!
Please try the manual installation for XP as referenced in the document and if it does not work, tell me which error message(s) you get when running wdreg. (the two times)
Don't forget to remove the CD from the drive.
jjl3, I have not received any email from you. (and after I forgot, ..) Maybe it was blocked by some paranoid server somewhere. Can you try to send it again, but this time zip it with a password?
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
had the same problem
tried all the other procedures (pdf-file, deleting inf-directory,...) - no success then, starting at point '# 4 2009-01-09 13:33:39', i exeuted RIDEInstallDir>\Driver\RLinkUSBInstall_verbose.bat, then plugged in the Primer2 - and windows started installation procedure as everytime before. in the dialog i selected 'select from a list of devices' or sth like that instead of selecting a driver-dirctory. There i was given a selection between 'RLinkUSBDevice' and 'RLink USB'. tried 'RLink USB' since the other was always shown in the installations before - and installed successfully. flashing OS3.6 worked, so this might be the solution
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
what‘s a terrible thing! Just waste my time here. I did all the pdf file asked. like "You must get to the point where when you plug in RLink and let Windows search automatically for a driver, it doesn't find any"
Re: STM3210E-PRIMER2-'Cannot Install this Hardware'
Yes. It's already quite old and a new CD will be published in the next 10 days. Note that you will have to uninstall the previous dirver... We recommend that you take a look at the Raisonance FAQ to see how to uninstall the previous driver.

Just to say that the above fix worked for me - I performed a manual driver installation and selected "RLink USB" and it allowed me to fully install and connect.
