Hi,
did anyone try to charge the primer2 bat with an external power source other then usb

Yes. Just get any miniB (I believe) USB connectors, and provide +5v to it in any way you want. For example, outlet,battery, etc.

One pin of the extension connector is reserved for this purpose. But for the future primers, we will reassign this pin to VBat (in order to add a specirfic regulator on the extension board).
