Extending Battery Life

I've reviewed the specification for the L6924D and it appears this chip can be used for higher capacity cells. I am wondering if anyone knows why a cell like the following can't be used with the battery supervisor chip for the Primer2.

Re: Extending Battery Life

In my current opinion, everyone is free to use any 3,7V!!! Li-ion or Li-polymer battery used for mobile phones. selecting the battery is for own choise. but it should be 3.7V, not 3.6V. The idfference is big, allowing lower voltage battery to explode at charging.

I would recommend a lipo battery with a PCM fitted. PCM = Protection circuit module see lower down the same link for a typical single cell PCM.

Re: Extending Battery Life

every mobile phone battery has protection ship in its construction... So you dont need any aditional electronics, then you decide to change your Prime2 battery to more capacity. Besides some mobile phones batteries are especially compat in desing, so in primers case ir would fit easilly covering sdcard socket. If you decide to somehow glue battery to pcb, then may arrise problems with card removing. But since there is mass storage device spec integrated in circle OS it should not be the problem.

Hi,
If the OP uses a mobile phone battery then fine it will have a PCM module fitted. However, if the OP decides to use a LIPO cell similar to the one in the link that he posted then a PCM should be added.

Re: Extending Battery Life

In case you replace the battery, you would have to modify the different resistors that defines the charge parameters (delay, current, ...).
