I am trying to install the Rlink driver under Vista Business (32bit). Vista recognizes the Rlink USB device as Raisonance RLINKUSB dongle, but it cant find the driver and install it. Found a link in this forum that pointed to a new driver package at Raisonance ftp site, but still the same problem ?
Vincent explains to me that it's quite important, when the problem occures, to unsinstall properly the driver before reinstalling. The procedure to desinstall is described in http://www.raisonance.com/Forum/punbb/v … hp?id=2173 If it does not work, please send to support@raisonance.com some additional information (see below):
Go through the uninstallation procedure again and write down these informations: (and send them to us): In step 2.1, write if there was any driver loaded for the RLink and if there was a Jungo driver to uninstall. In step 2.2, if you remove any files, write which ones. In step 2.3, check all the files mentionned in step 2.2 and write those that have "come back" after running the installation program. (make sure you are logged in as Administrator AND that you use the "run as admin" option) Same thing after plugging the RLink.
This information will give us hints on which step is going wrong and then maybe we'll understand the problem.
I am having the exact same problem on Win XP w/ service pack 2.
During the Ride7 installation the error occured, and during subsequenct attempts by using the install stand alone.
I deleted all instances of the driver from the windows directories and registry between each installation attempt, logged on as local administrator and tried to run the install as administrator. I tried several other log ons, after deleting in between to no avail.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get started writing and debugging code with my new STM32 Primer!
Yes, a lot of people have, including two persons at Raisonance (myself and one of my colleagues), at least one at ST, and several "real customers", most of them not having to perform any other manipulation than simply installing RIDE. In fact, the STM32 programming and debugging was mostly developed on two PCs, one of them using Vista.
Only it seems that depending on the version of Windows Vista and the selected security options, the installation of a driver changes a lot.
Usually, reinstalling while logged in admin and giving admin rights to the installer solves it. When it doesn't, this is often enough: (http://www.raisonance.com/Forum/punbb/v … hp?id=2173) In a few cases it's not, but we haven't figured out which options or configuration cause the problems. We are still searching. Any information is welcomed..
Okay, just for the record - I managed to install RIDE7 on Vista (using admin privs) without any problems. After a reboot, everything compiles perfectly. The RLink port was recognized as well and drivers all installed without errors. Thanks again.
To the support dudes, I can inform you the user BRJ is still stuck !! still no solve or workarround, He can not use RIDE and the USB programmer debugger on his Vista PC..
we give up ! we can not wait anylonger for a vista and rlink fix, so we found another way using IAR Embedded Workbench and J-link, the funny thing is now the J-link work fine on the vista machine, but not on my XP machine, what an unfair world :-) So I use one dev system and my coleaque uses another, really smart, or not :-)

Thomas, At the moment, we don't know how to reproduce the Vista issue. We have at Raisonance several PCs under Vista, and RLink works fine with all of them. For most (almost all) of the customers under Vista we succeed to solve the issue when it appears. Very often, the problem is fixed by desinstalling properly the driver, then reinstalling it. Did you try the recommended procedure? We have to purchase some new computers. Therefore, we will order some Vista OS to make some tries on virgin computers.... We will let you know.
please let us know when you have a fully automatic installer and un-installer it is too much hassle for people to manually delete files and registry entrys. yes we have tried it all, several times, and we had contact with several support people, thanks for all your time trying to help us.
Would it be possible to edit or modify the install file (.inf?) such that it appears to be a different driver? that may trick it into letting us install
Yes, it is supposed to work on both 32 and 64 bit. However there was a bug in the first installer for the 64-bit. It has been fixed (you can download the current CD ROM image).
However it seems (see messages above) that some customers are still encountering some problems. We make periodically some tries on new PC with various Vista versions, and it always works. At the moment, we are not able to reproduce the problem on any Vista version. But it seems that some issues are sometimes still present at the customer's side. Are you in this situation?
What about XP 64bit? I just received my Primer today, and I can't install the driver on my x64 XP desktop. Works fine on the XP32 laptop, but it's a bit annoying to have to RDP onto it to work...

Hi Francis,
Yes, but I need to double check I installed the drivers from the latest CD? Will do so and report back...
