boot mode and flash endurance of 1000 cycles

Hello, i did read in the datasheet that STM32F1x flash does support only 1000 erase cycles.
that is about 2 weeks of hard job at debuging.
What will happen after 1000 cycles ? Do we have to buy a new one ?

I think this could be helpfull to debug in ram.
in Ride it seems easy by just changing a flag in the project config.
But is it enough ? something has to be done to hardware ?
Do we have to unsolder R42 and put some 100K at R49 (r49 is in schematic but not on the board)
to boot in ram ?

Re: boot mode and flash endurance of 1000 cycles

Hello,
in fact it is 10000 cycles up to 105°C in order retention time writted in the datasheet is guarante.
For  what concerns debugging activities that will be performed at much lower temperature, there should be no issue at all. And anyway, this would be flagged by the tool.
Of course, this part should not be used afterward for production.
Best regards

Re: boot mode and flash endurance of 1000 cycles

ok, thankyou for this info pascalR,
but what about booting in RAM on the primer ?
is the suggested mod valid ?

Re: boot mode and flash endurance of 1000 cycles

Hi Jacques

There is the possibility to boot from the RAM in the software Ride7.
But it requires that the micro has been set to boot from the RAM.
For instance in the daughter boards of the Raisonance Starter Kit you can do it with a jumper.
With the primer you do not have this jumper.

Re: boot mode and flash endurance of 1000 cycles

Hi

Adding to the discussion. Provided that R49 (say 100k) will be soldered on PCB and R42 removed (0R) will I be able to load, start and debug from RAM that shall be then mapped to addresses from 0x0000 0000 ?

I would be unsuse about that limited code (to 32kB) debug version of Ride may complain.
