I recently discovered , that the wismo 2x8 gsm modem from sierra wireless needs a very tight timing for its flashing. and as most of the time not enough adequote steps are taken when it needs to be updated in the field or at the lab area. I had some encounters with transparent ports but they are interuptbased and does not allow for the flashing either. I any one is interested in a solutiion, they should do what i call bit following between the two uarts. ie uart 1 is connected to the GSM and uart 2 is your interface side to the external world.
