I just received my primer.

I plugged in the board with my STM8L and turned on the primer by pushing the joystick. The LCD is white. There is no response when I push on the joystick, push buttons, etc...

What's the problem?

May be your card is not well plugged into the base.
Switch the Primer off, remove hte target board and then plug it again.

I'm getting the same problem. I've tried resetting the jumpers, charging, and re-seating the target board with no luck.

Switch off the Primer, move the jumpers off.
Unplug and then plug the target card again into the base.
Set the VCC jumper on (the left one).
Try to power on the base, by pushing on the base button.

I followed the steps exactly and repeated several times with the same result. Blank Screen.
However, the primer without the target board does bring up a screen.

Is it possible that the target board is defective?

May be the target board is defective, but we already met this behavior sometimes, and it was a bad connection within the base. Try several position s (forcing to the left or to the right). If it does not work, try to exchange your target board with your distributor or ST local agency.

I followed the instructions to use my STM8 board on its own to take temperature readings. I removed the VCC BAT jumper, and put it back... but the application doesn't start. What's wrong? No LEDs visible and nothing shows on the LCD.

Did you use your card in standalone mode (out of the Primer base). In this case you must first put the Primer in charge, with only the BAT jumper on, in order to charge the embedded little battery on the card (30 hours are necessary for max charge).
If you try with the card plugged in the Primer base, you just have to put the VCC jumper ON, then power on the Primer.
