How CircleOS will handle bigger screen?

There are several messages on this forum about next primer having a bigger screen resolution. So far with Primer1 and Primer2 the solution to bigger screen was to use extra part of screen as an additional control elemnt.

But if Primer3 will have much bigger screen (320x200 compared to 160x128), the existing applications won't be directly compatible with it. How Raisonance is going to solve this? Will old applications run in doubled resolution, in centered box or they won't be compatible at all?

Also some functions (touchscreen related and other) are limited to unsigned char result so they won't be able to handle wull height of 320px.

Currently i'm developing a component layout system independent of resolution and i need to know what to expect in the next versions.

Re: How CircleOS will handle bigger screen?

Hi,

Effectively, the next version will have 320x240 pixels resolution (more infos at Raisonance.com).
Like the Primer2 a square area will be reserved for application or system pages, and a second one for the toolbar.
The working area will be 240x240, so no problems for 8 bits coordinates.
The old applications will be binary compatibles (same API), they will work in a virtual 128 pixels centered screen box.

Re: How CircleOS will handle bigger screen?

Thanks for info.

As far as i undestand the new api for switching to extended box (240x240) will be introduced? In this case i'll insert a resize operation at component display.

Re: How CircleOS will handle bigger screen?

what is the estimated launch date of primer 3? I look at the Raisonance.com site and found no info about primer 3, does anyone have a specific link?

It's called Open4-STM32E (or other Open4). It seems to be like REva board where you can use one of several modules with different microcontrollers and pirephirals.

http://www.mcu-raisonance.com/~open4-de … ghg2n.html

Raisonance just presented this device at Embeded World 2010. Depending on where you live it will probably take 1-3 month for Open4 to be available in your region.
